The Holly Police serves more than 6,000 residents and a workday population that exceeds 10,000 in a village of more than 2.5 square miles. In 2011-2012 the Police Department is budgeted for 16 full time employees. We also utilize part time officers and dispatchers to help the Village of Holly save. In 2011 the Holly Police Department responded to 10,895 calls.
Chief of Police
The Chief of Police is selected by the Village Manager and appointed by the Village Council, and leads the Department.
In addition to overall Department management, the Office of the Chief of Police is responsible for critical functions such as fiscal management, career development and training, legal affairs, media relations, legislative issues, evaluation of management activities and operations, emergency management and internal affairs investigations.
The Chief of Police manages two divisions: Uniformed Services and Administrative Services.
Uniformed Services Division
The division is tasked with the deployment of 24-hour, seven day a week First Responder personnel, conducting crime repression and crime prevention patrols, as well as responding to calls for police service, conducting initial criminal investigations, responding to non-criminal service requests, and performing selective traffic violation enforcement. The division also manages and operates the Emergency 911 Communications center (PSAP) and Dispatch personnel.
Administrative Services Division
The division is tasked with the investigation and follow up of initial criminal investigations; forensic analysis of physical evidence; handling, storage and disposal of evidence and property; management of subsequent cases in a court of law; liquor control commission enforcement; youth crimes investigations; and the School Resource Officer Program. The Records Section consolidates and maintains all official original records and reports, compiles legal material related to FOIA requests, manages vehicle impounds and sales, the registration of firearms, application for CCW permits, employment checks and preparing and disseminating data collected about department performance.
